Heads up, world, it’s time to pimp up that small space and turn it into something actually enjoyable. Remodelling that London flat or office might be a hard task if you do not have much space to manoeuvre in. But it does not have to be the claustrophobic experience you imagine it to be every time you walk into the room. There is some difficulty for the process, sure, but there is nothing that you cannot beat yourself, so just get the imagination going and think about it. The difficulty lies more in the choice of furniture than in getting used to the new place and the smaller space. What kind of furniture could you possibly use to both live comfortably and have more free space for future clutter? The market today offers a huge variety of ideas. One minute of sitting behind the laptop and on the web can generate a myriad of ideas in your mind that could make your flat a nicer and more spacey place, but you do not need to over encumber yourself like that. Here are a few tips you can use to make that small space look much comfier – so much so that you do not have to worry about any claustrophobic ideas.

Be Reasonable – Get Yourself a Retractable Bed

Get a retracable bed

The bed is always one of the biggest items in any room. The simple bed frame and the mattress take up so much space that you definitely want to do something about it. So a good idea would be to figure out a way how to make the space it takes manageable. This is actually easier than you might think as now the market offers plenty of retractable beds, all of them in various styles.  If you are not one who is easily persuadable to be practical instead of classy, you can install one on your ceiling and simply pull it down when you need to lie down. If this seems too dangerous for you, install it on the wall and fold it out whenever you need it – some hotels have been using this type of beds for years. You can even skip the bed altogether and have a couch that can be folded out as a bed. Transformable furniture is one of the greatest ways to have everything in your home and save space at once.

Étagère

etagere

This little handy thing, despite also being so much fun to say, is one of France’s more remarkable inventions, the étagère is of the greatest space savers you can wish for. Place one medium sized with a few shelves in your bathroom and you will never need more space for all the towels, cleaning products and equipment, tooth pastes and brushes, and soaps and shampoos. Place a big one in the living room and now you have a place for all your decorations, glasses, and books. They are also easy to clear when doing house cleaning. Be organised with one of those at home and you can use that anywhere in the house to bring an order to almost anything you own. Find it a place and place it anywhere in the house so that it can help rather than get in the way. And sure it will help – it is a French invention! And are not French people the masters of convention?
