When in the middle of a rubbish removal process, you often end up with a pile of things you no longer use or have been neglecting for so long that you consider completely unneeded – after all, you survived this long without it, right? Therefore, all this heap constitutes of waste that should undergo disposal. But hold on a minute! Do not pick up the phone for the skip hire just yet. Go through all the things you piled up again – you will be surprised at how many things we have in our house that can be repurposed to make something that you will actually use. Recycling can be done in numerous ways, and DIY is one of them. Let’s play a simple game and see what you have there.
Old Newspapers
Come on, that only shows some lack of imagination! Newspapers can be useful for a variety of things. From the old and proven method of cleaning windows, to floor covering when you are painting walls or particular parts of the floor, newspapers will always have a purpose. You can shove them in shoes to prevent them from being squished in a pile, or wrap up items when moving house, or just wrap up old items to prevent them from gathering dust. Of course, that does not mean you should keep every single newspaper you find in the house, but at least a nice above-the-ankle-high pile will be sufficient.
Old Clothes
Instead of buying more and more towels and tissues for when you are cleaning around the house, you can simply take a T-shirt you are never going to use again and tear or slice it into small rags. Now you get free cleaning tools! You can also cut patterns from old clothes and set them up onto new ones just for new adornments, or to cover up a whole. Or, if you are the designer type, clothes can always be repurposed into new clothes with enough creativity and imagination.
As you can see, everything has a multitude of purposes and, apparently, repurposes. Do not be so hasty as to throw everything away and think how you can implement everything so that you don’t add to the burning piles and the pollution the burning of your things will lead to. Instead, use your creativity and find a new purpose for however many items you can.
