Each one of us produces one and a half pounds of waste per day, which is a lot and also toxic, considering that it is made mostly of plastic bags, food packaging and plastic boxes, pots and cups.
Garbage is everywhere – packs of wafers in the street, junk-crammed baskets, plastic bags on the trees, or those worn by the wind in our face.
Naturally, one person is powerless to deal with such a global problem, but if we make a minimal effort to minimize our garbage, then it will certainly be clearer around us. It is time to take a little responsibility for the pollution problem.
Here’s what we can do with almost zero efforts:
- Don’t use plastic bags if you do not need them. Just think about how many times you’ve taken bags from a store, when you really did not need them and then you throw them in the trash can almost immediately. The other solution to the “plastic problem” is to carry a cloth bag with you to put your purchases.
- Avoid using disposable items (such as disposable cups and dishes). Even when you go to a picnic you may not use them, and you can take the standard set from home, that way the food will be tastier and you will not leave any junk, just take everything in a bag and wash it at home. And if you get coffee from a machine while you’re at work, the machine itself has a “no cup” option – just put your favorite porcelain coffee cup and press the button.
- Try to collect recyclable rubbish, namely paper, glass packaging, plastic and nylon packaging, and more. You can sacrifice a small corner of your home where you can collect paper and bottles, jars, plastic pots, boxes, packs, and so on and then to dispose them in the correct color containers for separate collection.
Before you throw away another needless thing, consider whether you can find an alternative way of using or give it to someone who will need it.
REDUCE, REUSE, RECYCLE
1. When we buy things it is important to think about whether we really need them.
2. before we throw something out to think about whether we can actually refresh it or adapt it for other purposes or give it to someone who needs it .
3. And if we really have to throw something out, think about whether it can be recycled.
